Art & War in the Renaissance: The Battle of Pavia Tapestries
Published on the occasion of a major traveling exhibition, this catalogue presents distinctive arms and armor within the rich context of an important tapestry series to highlight the beauty of Renaissance Europe’s war culture. A classical type and layout was adopted, which also lent itself well to the design of family trees and chronologies. Meanwhile, regal colours and materials (blue, reds and copper foiling) complement both the hues in the tapestries and the metal armor displayed.
